Homemade Apple Pie

We were recently given a bunch of apples from a member of our church from his apple tree.  I plan to make some Apple Butter later, but tonight while the husband was cutting the grass and the kids were watching Tom and Jerry I decided to look up a recipe for a homemade apple pie.  I had pinned this one from Jam Hands earlier and had all the ingredients on hand.  I then googled a recipe for a homemade pie crust and decided on this one from Very Best Baking.  The pie was really good so I thought I would share the recipe here.

PIE CRUST -
Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup Crisco
4 Tbsp cold water

Directions:
1.  Combine flour and salt in bowl.
2.  Cut in Crisco with pastry blender or two knives.
3.  Add water and blend until mixture holds together.
4.  Shape dough into ball and place on lightly floured surface.
5.  Roll out dough to 1/8 in. thickness and place in pie plate.

APPLE PIE -
Ingredients:
5 1/2 cups peeled/cored/sliced apples
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg

TOPPING -
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup butter, room temperature

Directions:
1.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2.  In a large bowl, mix apples, lemon juice, both sugars, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  Pour into crust.
3.  In a medium bowl, combine topping ingredients with a pastry blender or fork and sprinkle evenly over apple mixture.
4.  Bake for 50 minutes.

This is the hardest part, but worth it!

Just thought you'd like a preview of the inside gooey goodness :)
