I've been eating these cookies ever since I began dating my husband 11 1/2 years ago. His mom is an excellent cook and she got this recipe from a church member while living in AL. After getting married, I, of course, called one day for the recipe. This recipe makes about 75 cookies depending on how big you make them, so they are perfect for making for family and friends. My MIL also freezes some of the dough for later. They are actually called Aunt Susie's Chocolate Chip Cookies, but no one knows who Aunt Susie is. :)
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups Crisco
2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
3 cups oatmeal
12 oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Stir first 3 ingredients together.
3. In a large, separate bowl mix the next 3 ingredients and cream well.
4. Mix the eggs and vanilla and then add to creamed mixture.
5. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture and beat until well mixed.
6. Stir in the oatmeal and chocolate chips with large spoon.
7. Place dough balls on baking sheet and bake first batch for 10 minutes and the rest of the batches for 9 1/2 minutes. Don't over bake!
8. Allow to cool on wire rack.
Enjoy!
Earlier this year we took some to our neighbors for a Valentine's Day treat. :)
