Husband's Helper
"We were created to be our husband's helper, not our children's mother . . . Our husbands should always remain first in our hearts and in our care. In fact, one of the most loving things we can do for our children is to prize our husbands. It provides a wonderful security in their lives, and it presents a biblical model for them and their future marriages. We want our daughters to prize their future husbands; and for our sons, we want them to find wives who will prize them." -Carolyn Mahaney (Feminine Appeal, pg. 43)

"In your marriage you can either be devastated by what he isn't and pick at his weaknesses, or invest in who he is becoming and call forth the man he is in Christ. Your words can build up or tear down, and God has called you to help your husband succeed in his role."
ReplyDeleteThat's in some of my small group notes..it's called Mentoring, and we have different women who have been in our place speak to us every week about how to be a Godly wife. Your blog reminds me of that group. Great idea!!
Wish I could remind all young mothers especially of this truth! To often we misguidedly focus all our attention on our babies and/or children believing we are doing what's best for them.
